4 April 2009 - Zagreb, Croatia

After an exciting first day of the skating competition, Team USA was in 5th and 7th place, in great position for the Free Program. And before the Free Program on Saturday evening, a day around Zagreb was necessary.

As I was lost for approximately 3 hours my first day in Zagreb, I knew the city quite well by the second day and navigated it effortlessly.

This is a scene from Zrinjevac, the main green in the Lower City. Zagreb had the most beautiful spring flowers everywhere there was an inch of green. So gorgeous among the pastel-coloured buildings and bustling tourists.

For one RCG. Squash-- a universal language, it seems.

A glimpse of Upper City. It was a typical Saturday morning in Zagreb, it seemed. Everyone was running to the amazing Farmers' Markets and Flower Markets, gabbing and enjoying coffees on the sidewalk Cafes, or running errands with little children riding on the backs of bicycles. Pure small city energy-- it was fantastic.

Another view of part of the main green in Lower Zagreb. Again, gorgeous blossoms against a fabulous backdrop.

The new 2009 World Champions: Team Canada 1 (Nexxice). A beautiful Free Program skated to music from Carmina Burana!
